IN HELPLESSNESS
Silent, in hints of fleeting consolation.
Enshrouded in mourning veils. Unknown
lands, far away… Alone! In smallness
crushed by the walls. A thousand times we moan…
Sunlit reflections in glass windowpanes
beckon with touches of freedom. Aimless
wandering through rooms, clouded in shadow,
reflecting thoughts powerless, unspoken.
Through the vale of tears we wade together,
tormented by pain. Fingers entwined –
hands holding fast. Perhaps we even share a little food…
Fitful in drowsiness. In my arms curled,
you fall asleep in sudden relief, crimson,
foretelling return by the weight of release.
With fever you stir, falling, rising.
For a moment you seek me. I reach toward you.
